About

Meet the Researcher

I have always been creative in some way throughout my life. Photography especially is where I have had a passion, I love to create images through my own perspective, which is completely unique to my eyes. Post-production is one of my favourite aspects of photography where I am able to manipulate the photographs in various ways, creating different versions and renditions of the same image. By studying design, I think that it has given me a different perspective on taking photographs and the stories and meanings behind them, which can be used through design elements as well.

I came to study design after 6 years of working full time. I haven’t always been passionate about my previous jobs until I was given the opportunity to work at a pharmacy in the photographic department. After a year of being the assistant in the photographic-lab I was promoted to the managerial position. This meant that I was responsible for all of the sign making and promotional material for the store. This is when I realised, I enjoyed design and the elements of creating material that wasn’t only photographic. After 3 years, the pharmacy decided to downgrade the photographic lab, which made me question my position and where I was headed in the future. This led me to the decision to study design, because I really enjoyed creating the promotional material, editing and restorations of older photographs, and thought that design was the right path to explore.
